We hope you can join us for an afternoon of beautiful classical music performed by two outstanding young musicians, 14 year old violinist, Madalyn Parnas and 12 year old cellist, Cicely Parnas.

The Parnas sisters are granddaughters of world-renowned cellist, Leslie Parnas. They began their music studies at age 4 at community music schools in New York and Massachusetts.

Madalyn has soloed with the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra, Greater Newburgh Symphony, New Bedford Symphony and will perform with the Georgia Philharmonic October 29. She was featured on NPR’s “From the Top”, and has performed in numerous recitals and chamber music series. She is the winner of the Schenectady Symphony 2005 Stefan Scholarship Competition and first prize winner in the 2005 Uel Wade Music Scholarship Competition. Her playing has been described as “a lush virtuoso performance,” “a real show-stopper.”

Cicely has soloed with the New Bedford Symphony, Quincy Symphony Orchestra and the Woodstock Chamber Orchestra. Numerous master classes and recital performances have already taken her to many venues in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York. Reviewers describe her playing as “an astonishing mix of pungency and finesse.”

These young virtuosos who are traveling from Stephentown, New York are generously lending their time and talent to the Georgia Academy of Music’s financial aid program because of their passion for the community music school concept. Since the cost of private musical instruction is prohibitive for many families, the proceeds from this recital will afford more children the opportunity to study music.

A reception will follow the performance and you will have the opportunity to meet these amazing young ladies. We hope to see you on the 30th!
