About our Private Lessons

The Georgia Academy of Music offers music lessons for the beginner, intermediate and advanced student. Established in 1973, it is the most renowned community music school in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The diverse background of our faculty allows us to offer a wide variety of teaching styles and methods suited to the individual needs of our students. Our faculty members help to prepare students for auditions with the Atlanta Youth Symphony, Metropolitan Youth Symphony, Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra, and All State Orchestra and Band. Members of the piano faculty have their students participate in the Music Teacher's National Association and the Georgia Music Teachers Association competitions and events. Some piano faculty members also prepare students for the Royal School of Music Associated Board tests. The Academy offers monthly recitals during the school year as a solo opportunity for all students here at the Academy. In addition to traditional lessons we also offer the Suzuki method of instruction on violin with opportunities for group Suzuki. During the past few seasons the Georgia Academy Suzuki Violin Ensemble has performed for The Atlanta Symphony Showcase, The Southeastern Flower Show, Callanwolde, and The Sandy Springs Fall Festival. Members of our Suzuki staff belong to the Suzuki Association of Georgia.

How to Register for Summer Classes

Where: Tull Hall on the Westminster Schools Campus. Registration Information: We have flexible scheduling for our summer session. The student can book specific dates and times in the teacher's summer schedule. All bookings are final and require payment at the time of registration. Each teacher sets a minimum number of lessons required for the summer session. Students that register for summer are also then qualified to register early for the Fall school year.

Both summer and fall registration continue throughout the spring and school year. We offer year round registration to allow a student to begin at any time.

How: You can register in person in the office or call us at 404-355-3451 to schedule your summer lessons. If you register on the phone you must pay by Mastercard or Visa.

A schedule of rates is included with the registration form.

Please note that the fall registration is a different separate sign up apart from summer registration.

GEORGIA ACADEMY OF MUSIC PRIVATE LESSON POLICIES AND PAYMENT INFORMATION

MISSED LESSON POLICY: There are no makeups for missed lessons except for the following circumstances: 1. Westminster is closed for snow or some other emergency. 2.The teacher is absent. 3. The student has a religious holiday, school music function, or college entrance exam. 4. The student has a serious illness or injury and must miss more than 3 weeks.

TERMINATION POLICY: Two weeks notice is required to terminate private lessons. The office must be notified directly rather than a verbal notice given to a teacher.

MONTHLY TUITION PAYMENT INSTALLMENTS: There are 34 weeks of scheduled lessons for all students for the school year regardless of which day of the week the student is scheduled. We have factored holidays into this count so that all lesson days will total 34 weeks by the end of the school year. (The Academy calendar is located on the lesson confirmation sheet.) Due to holidays and the fact that we start the last week in August some months will have more than 4 weeks of lessons and some less. The monthly installments cover the yearly total. We have divided these payments into 9 installments. Eight payments are full payments and the last payment is a half payment since 34 weeks does not divide evenly. Payment for these lessons is due in advance of services rendered.

MONTHLY TUITION PAYMENTS: The monthly tuition due date is the 21st of each month as listed in the coupon book. Payments will be considered late after the 28th. Your credit card will be charged by the 15th of the month if the outstanding balance has not been received. Please make checks payable to The Georgia Academy of Music. Payments may be made in the office or sent to GAM, P.O. Box 250347 Atlanta, GA. 30325.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: If you would like to pay by Mastercard or Visa rather than by the enclosed coupon book, please stop by the office and make your payment arrangements. There is a 2% surcharge to your monthly payment should you elect to pay by credit card.
