About Us

The Georgia Academy of Music assumes that all of its students have a desire to enhance or begin a musical education. The faculty is committed to bring a passion to to each of its students while encouraging and nurturing the most important aspects of music: creativity and personal expression. In return, students are required to attend classes on a regular basis and to practice their craft at home for the amount of time necessary to achieve these goals, as set forth by the student, their parents, and the faculty and staff of the Academy.

Public performance by Academy ensembles and recitals for individuals are an important outreach and learning experience for our students. The Academy is committed to involving its students in the arts community in Atlanta.

The Academy is also committed to developing relationships with other non-profit organizations in the greater Atlanta area, such as providing Musical Beginnings classes for mothers who have AIDS and working through through local shelters. The Academy also provides scholarship money to promising students when such funds are available.

To complete the learning experience, study should culminate in performance. To perform a work well for an audience requires training and the Academy therefore offers regular performance opportunities for its students. The Academy provides accompanists for recital with rehearsal time made available with the accompanist at no charge to the student.
