Monique Arar, piano
Dr. Monique Arar has been teaching students in preschool through retirement for over fifteen years. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Miami University of Ohio, as well as a Master of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Dr. Arar is an active pedagogue, performer and researcher. An involved member of the Music Teacher National Association, she has presented her research on keyboard pedagogy at conferences nationwide. She is a certified Music Together instructor (for children ages 0-5) and has taught piano to college students at UNLV.
Originally from Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Arar began playing piano at the age of three and was trained in the Russian school of piano playing. In addition to helping her win competitions and receive college funding to further her musical studies, her musical training helped develop not only the musician but teacher she is today. Understanding the value of developing a solid foundation of musicianship, Dr. Arar strives to incorporate theory, sight-reading, aural skills, improvisation, technique, and musicality in each lesson. She is invested in helping her students grow both as lifelong musicians and learners and loves helping students achieve their personal musical goals-- whether to play for fun, or to compete on the concert stage.
