Karen Cornell, violin
Karen D. Cornell is the Music Specialist at Abbotts Hill Elementary School in Fulton County.  She holds a Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education from The University of Georgia, where she studied viola with Mark Cedel.  During her studies, she traveled with the UGA Chamber Orchestra to Italy to perform several concerts over a 2-week period. Karen has performed with Gainesville Symphony Orchestra, Georgia Philharmonic and various other ensembles in the Atlanta area. Additionally, she has earned Level I, II, + III Orff Certification, Level I World Music Drumming and is the Past President of the Atlanta Area Orff-Schulwerk Chapter.  She achieved National Board Certification in Music-Early/Middle Child in 2003 and was named 2007-2008 Fulton County Elementary Teacher of the Year.  Karen has a passion for teaching the “little ones” and provides a creative, enriching, and nurturing learning environment.

 

Using a variety of materials and games, Karen develops a curriculum that is tailored to each student’s musical growth.

 

Students will experience:

Age appropriate repertoire that challenges but also encourages success

Emphasis on learning and maintaining appropriate position and technique
